It’s Wedding Wednesday friends! I’m thinking this series will happen one Wednesday every month, but we’ll see. I‘ve been trying to line it up with the planning that we are actually doing in the moment, but I don’t want to overload the blog feed with wedding posts. 🤦🏻♀️
Today we have 458 days until our wedding! Does that sound like a lot? Well it is, but it also is not LOL. It feels so far away, but there is still so much to do and the months seem to be slipping through my fingers. It’s crazy to think that we’ve already been engaged for 8 months.
Even though time is simultaneously dragging on and slipping by, I feel really good about where we are with our wedding plans right now.
Here’s what we have booked :
- Venue
- Videographer
- Photographer
- DJ
- Caterers
Here’s what we still need to find/book :
- Day-Of Coordinator
- Florist
- Baker/Cake
- Makeup & Hair
- My Dress
- Bridesmaid Dresses
- Tuxes
- Decor
Man, does that second list stress anyone else out? 😅 Lol all jokes aside, I am really loving the planning pace we are at. I have been stressed occasionally when choosing between different options for the same vendor, but besides that planning has been very smooth. We are taking it a vendor at a time and just chugging along. I have a day-of coordinator and a hair & makeup team picked, I just haven’t booked them yet. I also know the colors, decor, and flowers that I want I just need to get it all purchased and booked.
In the last Wedding Wednesday we didn’t have caterers booked, but we do now so I can finally chat about that process today.
I talked about this some on Instagram, but picking a caterer was not an easy task for us. We got our hearts really stuck on a caterer that was not on our venue’s required caterer list. I know you’re thinking, “Why did you look at a caterer that was not on your venue’s list?”, well it was really more about the meal that we wanted and this caterer is the only one in the area who does it. (I am trying to keep our menu a surprise until after the wedding). 🤫
We entertained quotes from several caterers on the venue’s list, but none of the menus really seemed like us and the prices seemed astronomical for what we were getting. We were quoted $13,000 for a buffet.
Having the caterer that we wanted became really important to us because we wanted a menu that would be memorable for us and our guests. After some back and forth with the venue, there was no way we could book the caterer we wanted unless we booked one of their caterers too in some capacity. We ended going with a caterer off of their list that will provide cocktail hour hors d’œuvres and dinner stations then the second caterer will provide salad, 1 other dinner option, and a (very fun) dessert.
We met with the venue’s caterer in June for a tasting and we were so pleasantly surprised with everything. We are really really excited about our menu. It’s going to be very us, really delicious, and there will be different options for our guests to choose from so (hopefully) everyone will be satisfied with their meal.
Always,
