Happy happy Wednesday friends! 🤍 I have been deep in wedding planning for the past several weeks and I have a lot to update you on today!
On February 5th, I got most of my girls together early that morning at a local dress shop. We had a ton of fun trying on different dresses to see what everyone liked. Originally, I wanted everyone in the same dress, but once I started seeing everyone in different dresses it just didn’t work. I decided to pick 3 different dresses and have 2 girls in each. The dresses are identical besides differing necklines. It worked out perfectly that everyone got to be in the dress that they liked the most and felt confident in. It was a quick appointment. We were done in an hour. Afterward, we went to Kid Cashew for a very delicious brunch.
A few weeks later, I went back with just one of the bridesmaids who couldn’t make the first appointment. Once she tried on her dress, liked it, and had her measurements done, I opened up the portal so that everyone could start ordering. It was super easy!
My next big task over the past several weeks has been trying to book a florist. This has been the hardest vendor for me to book so far because I needed a pretty specific idea of what I wanted in order for them to build a realistic proposal for me. I emailed three different florists. One was on a recommended vendors list from my coordinator and the other two I had found on Instagram. In my emails, I mentioned a few types of flowers that I wanted (I asked for 2 different types of roses), if possible, in my bouquet and throughout the rest of the floral arrangements. One of the three florists really did not appreciate me asking for specific flowers and accused me via email of “asking her to steal another florist’s flower recipe.” When I replied to her and told her I had come up with the combinations on my own she replied saying “Oh wow most couples don’t know flower names”. This exchange really did not sit well with me so I decided to not work with this florist.
I moved forward with the other two florists and set up phone consultations. During the phone consultation, I really hit it off with the florist that my coordinator had recommended. Even after the phone call, she was incredibly responsive and quick to make any changes to the proposal that I requested. The poor woman went back and for with me making proposal changes for almost 2 weeks until we got the proposal in a place that fit the budget and the look(s) I was going for.
On one of my previous Wedding Wednesday posts I included a cake/baker on my list of “Still Need to Book”, but since then we have actually decided to just get a small white cake from Publix and have the florist decorate that with flowers. It will be just enough for Andrew and me to cut and then take home to freeze for our 1st anniversary. There will be another dessert option available to our guests, just not cake 😊
