Since the first time we visited Savannah in September of 2020, Andrew and I have snuck down there whenever we can. Andrew has been traveling a lot for work lately and this week his work brought him to Savannah. I jumped at the chance to go with him even though it meant setting up my office in a coffee shop, the hotel, and the car throughout the trip.
Andrew only needed to be there for meetings on Monday so we drove down Sunday afternoon and then drove back Tuesday morning. We stayed at the beautiful Andaz Hotel. It is located in front of Ellis square and is within perfect walking distance to almost everything we wanted to do while we were there. Our suite was absolutely stunning. All of the decor and furniture felt so intentional and unique. We even had a soaking tub.
We started our morning with a quick breakfast at the restaurant in the hotel. Andrew had an omelet and I had The Yankee which was just a bagel and lox.
After breakfast, I packed up all my work stuff and Andrew dropped me off at Franklin’s. I spent the day at the counter by the window on a barstool, sipping coffee, taking meetings, and working away. I’ve been in a bit of a work-from-home funk for a few weeks now and this change of scenery was just what I needed. Something about setting up all of my work stuff and sitting in a new and beautiful space really brought me joy.
Around 3, I decided to pack my stuff up and venture out to explore. I was also looking for a late lunch/snack to hold me over until our dinner reservations. After strolling around for a bit, I ended up popping into Fox & Fig Cafe. I had my eye on their Bowl of Plenty, but they were out of it for the day so I just grabbed their Green One smoothie.
Soon after I got my smoothie Andrew called me and told me he was done with his meetings and on his way to pick me up. We brought all of our work stuff back to the hotel, I took my last meeting for the day, and then we headed out to walk around and enjoy the beautiful evening.
My favorite thing about Savannah is that every time I visit I always find something different to marvel at. We passed this adorable mint-green house that had a massive garden out of pots.
We had late dinner reservations at The Fitzroy for 8:15 pm, but after 2 hours of walking around, we were getting really hungry. We headed over to the restaurant around 6 just to see if they could squeeze us in and they were actually able to seat us early on the rooftop 😊
It was a perfect spring day. The rooftop of the Fitzroy is nestled under string lights and between beautiful buildings. It was so relaxing to unwind with a drink and enjoy a meal up there.
For appetizers, we ordered the Brussel sprouts and fries. The Brussel sprouts were absolutely divine. I would describe it as a salad of shredded, fried Brussels topped with shredded parmesan and a lemon aioli.
For dinner, I had the Chicken Schnitzel and Andrew had the Fish & Chips. Both were very delicious. The Chicken Schnitzel was SO crispy and SO flavorful.
After dinner, we walked back to the hotel and sat out at the fire pit. We met a lovely group of ladies from Minnesota who were on their first annual sister’s trip. We stayed at the fire pit chatting and laughing with them for about an hour.
When they decided to head in for the night, we decided to go walk around Ellis Square and City Market. As we always do, we found our way to ice cream. We popped into Savannah Candy Kitchen for a sweet treat before heading back to the hotel for the night.
The next morning we were up and out early so that we could get home in the early afternoon. On our way out of town, we decided to try one more coffee shop. We stopped at Savannah Coffee Roasters. On Monday, we had seen people walking around with see-through latte cups from SCR and we were dying to try it. We both got the cold brew with their Shortbread syrup. Probably one of the best cups of coffee I’ve had. Once we had our caffeinated beverages it was time to drive home. I’m always so sad to leave Savannah, but I know we will be back. 😉
Love always,
