Happy July friends! This summer feels like it’s flying by. There is a part of me that wishes it would slow down, but another part of me is wishing 2021 away so that it can be October 2022 already and our wedding can be here. 🙈
I was very conscience this month about taking photos and keeping a list of things bringing me joy, so this Everyday Magic post is a bit heftier than others. 😊
Everyday magic is a monthly list of things that have been bringing me joy during the month. The list will be an eclectic combination of the exciting and the ordinary, the obviously newsworthy and the mundane. It will contain anything from events to books to products.
Trader Joe’s Seasonings. June was super busy for us. We went to Beaufort the first weekend and the next two weekends I had events to photograph. When we’re busy I tend to make rice, a protein, and a veggie for dinner a lot. Its quick and healthy. If I don’t have a dinner plan, we end up at CAVA or Q’Doba so it’s important to keep our rice & protein interesting. Our biggest go-to lately is ground beef and rice. To spice things up we’ve been sprinkling the Furikake seasoning from Trader Joe’s on all of the rice & protein dishes. I make a quick sauce with Braggs Liquid Aminos and the Trader Joe’s Chili Onion Crunch and boring beef and rice turns into a pretty satisfying almost Japanese dish.
Pre-Workout. We picked up two new Alani Nu Pre-Workout flavors from our gym. We’ve been mixing it over ice and sipping on it on our way to the gym. I go through phases with pre-workout where I use it for almost every workout or I don’t use it at all. In April and May, my workouts were really feeling lackluster and unintentional. I felt like I was just going through the motions and not really putting any heart into it. Taking pre-workout again has really gotten me over my little slump and put some heart back into my workouts.
Flowers + Ferns. This month I bought flowers & ferns for our front porch. I kept putting it off, but the porch looked so bare without them that I finally made my way over to Old Store Produce in Huntersville and bought these pretty fern babies and some flowers. Inside I’ve been obsessed with keeping fresh peonies on the kitchen counter. Trader Joe’s has had a beautiful selection of Peonies basically all month so I’ve been splurging a bit. The trouble is that now the counter looks so empty without a vase of flowers that I don’t know how I am going to stop. 😇🙈
Biker Shorts. I bought these biker shorts from Aerie that don’t have a seam around the leg. They are so comfortable and they’re the perfect length. I am still working from home so a pair of biker shorts and a muscle tank is considered a whole dang outfit for me.
Summer Fridays Lip Butter Balm. This is probably the most moisturizing lip balm I have ever used. For the past 2 years I have been really awful about venturing out to try new skincare & makeup products. I found a few really great products and have stuck with them faithfully. Lately, I’ve had the itch to try new stuff so I have been trying to slowly get back into it. Of my new purchases so far, this one is my favorite.
Seltzer Water & Coconut Water. Costco introduced me to Harmless Harvest and now its the only coconut water I will drink. It honestly taste so much better than any other coconut water I’ve tried. I normally can’t drink coconut water unless its chocolate flavored because it tastes so gross to me otherwise, but Harmless Harvest is really on to something with this pink coconut water because it tastes heavenly. Not a lot to say about the Lemon & Ginger Seltzer Water from Trader Joe’s except that it has been a huge obsession of mine lately.
Kodiak Cakes Muffin Power Cups. I know breakfast is an important meal, especially for women, but I have been the worst morning person ever this month and making breakfast has felt like a daunting task. These Power Cups are super easy to pop in the microwave with a little milk and boom a whole muffin comes out (well a muffin cup, but close enough).
New alone time. Andrew started a new job in June. For the first 4 months, he has to go into the office and then will transition to a traveling + work from home schedule. This is the first time since we moved in together over a year ago that we are not working from home together. Even worse, this is my first time working from home and being home alone (minus the dogs). I am fumbling my way through coffee and lunch breaks without him and dinners by myself when he has a work dinner to attend. I think sometimes I go all day without saying any words besides commands to the dogs. I will be sharing more in a think piece/chit chat on all this new alone time that I have, but for now I’ll just say that I am half loving it and half hating it.
Thats all my magic for this month friends!
Love always,
